The humanitarian response in Somalia lacks adequate funds to avert looming famine, while development projects continue to be underfunded. Without greater, urgent support from the international community and other donors, the crisis will escalate and continue to recur as surviving communities suffer and become more vulnerable.
The Special Envoy and his Office are raising awareness on the situation in Somalia and the much-needed immediate, medium and long-term solutions. By engaging with diaspora, the media and international donors like governments, financial institutions and the private sector, the Special Envoy is sharing the Government of Somalia’s message and lobbying for increased support for emergency, resilience building and climate adaptation efforts.
